Teaching While the World is on Fire: Meeting of Pedagogies for Ecosocial Education to Confront the Climate Crisis

Building networks and practices to generate intersectional understandings of climate justice through educational practices. 

In October 2022, La Casa dels Futurs worked with Edualter, CEDAT, FUHEM, and TeachersForFutureSpain to organize a full-day event with participation of more than 80 people to explore eco-social educational pedagogies in times of climate crisis. Intentional focus was put on decolonial practices in knowledge building with and inside ecosocial movements. 

The workshops and discussions facilitated at this event where designed to expand networks and practices towards building intersectional understandings of climate justice through educational practices. The event also included inter-generational educational activities, including the planting of a small forest dedicated to environmental defenders. Outcomes of this workshop have been integrated into a longer term collaboration between La Casa dels Futurs and Commons Ecologies for developing a campaign towards integrating ecosocial justice into compulsory education curricula across Europe.
