_Who we are_
La Casa dels Futurs (The House of Futures) is a project to create long-term physical, social and educational infrastructure to cross-pollinate intersectional and contextualized solutions in times of climate crisis.
We are working to open a permanent Climate Justice Center and Movement School that will support mutual aid and cooperation among social and environmental movements so that they may better thrive on a damaged planet.
_Climate Justice from the Peripheries_

_MISSION__
We understand Climate Justice as a point of intersection between social and ecological struggles, with the potential to interconnect diverse movements and actors towards transformative change. To achieve our objectives, La Casa dels Futurs works on three axes:
- Climate Resilience
- Global Solidarity
- School of Movements

_VISION_
The global climate emergency requires us to re-imagine global solidarity on a new timeframe and scale. La Casa dels Futurs seeks to open a Climate Justice Center – based in the metropolitan area of Barcelona – that can be a model and catalyst for Mediterranean social and ecological practices of climate resilience.
_Values_
We look at the context, processes, and climate emergency from an intersectional lens, recognizing that multiple oppressions based on gender, race, class, and other identities unequally affect all people and our relationship with our contexts. We promote equity and justice for all communities, and work to ensure that our actions, research, and projects not only promote good living, but also a more just and inclusive society – where all voices are heard.
We believe in the importance of integrating local, collaborative, and ancestral knowledge as a tool to transform historical narratives of oppression and imposed colonial power relations. We promote inclusive, diverse and respectful ways of knowing and learning of non-hegemonic cultures and knowledge, where education is liberating and emancipatory
As a central pillar of our mission and practices, we act under the premise that incorporating a wide variety of perspectives and experiences deeply enriches our ability to respond effectively and fairly to climate crises. We strive to include knowledge from diverse cultural, economic and educational backgrounds in all stages of our work, from planning to project execution.
We grow our community by organizing events that promote solidarity and intercultural collaboration. These include participatory workshops, seed exchanges and local producers’ markets, which not only foster community cohesion, but also serve as platforms for collective action and mutual support. We create safe and empowering spaces for all people, centering the voices that are often ignored
We dive deep into the interconnection between the body and the territories we inhabit, recognizing and valuing the intrinsic relationship between our physical well-being and the health of the ecosystems that hold us.
_AXES_
CLIMATE RESILIENCE_
We incubate and share accessible, scalable and replicable climate solutions that are local, traditional, social or low-tech. We value the social implications of community work, and the great potential of responses to the climate crisis to strengthen and restore social relationships based on care and collective management of finite resources.
Movement School_
Using transformative, contextualized and participatory pedagogies, we organize spaces for trans-local exchanges of knowledge and skills with the aim of cross-pollinating social and practical solutions that empower communities and citizens to be agents of eco-social transformation and confront the climate crisis and its structural causes. The essential value of a Movement School lies in its capacity to encourage networks for collective learning that transcends geographic borders and local contexts, and fostering an intersectional understanding of eco-social problems. By bringing together efforts from distinct territories and experiences, we are able to generate more inclusive and comprehensive solutions that can be adapted to the realities of different contexts. As such, the Movement School acts as a vital space to guide people who not only understand the gravity of the climate crisis, but are also equipped with practical and theoretical tools to confront it from inside their communities. Collaborations across academia, social movements and citizens have the opportunity to not only strengthen resistance against environmental impacts, but can also help address the structural causes of the crisis, such as social inequalities, resource exploitation and unsustainable economic models.
Solidarity global_
With its globalized impacts, the climate emergency requires a strengthening and expansion of solidarity networks and mutual-aid, with leadership from directly impacted communities. Taking advantage of our privilege in the “global north,” we work to promote trans-local and ecosystemic practices that build grassroots power towards transformative change.
We are a group of people who are self-organized horizontally and who subscribe to the Jémez Principles for Democratic Organization. We operate from autonomous working committees, with strategic and economic decisions agreed upon in monthly coordination meetings. Casa dels Futurs is open to people who share its goals and values, and who want to proactively contribute to our common project.
