Interweaving Ecofeminisms – P’urepecha Indigenous Resistance and Ecofeminist Proposals to rethink our cities

Exploring the diversity of ways that ecofeminist principles, practices and theory become embodied through political practice.

In Abril 2022, La Casa dels Futurs hosted a full day workshop with more than 80 participants to explore the diversity of ways that ecofeminist principles, practices and theory become embodied through political practice. This workshop brought together a diversity of ecofeminist organizers including an indigenous P’urepecha beekeeper from Mexico, a recently displaced Ukrainian FridaysForFuture activist from Maripol, and local ecofeminist researchers and activists. Facilitated discussions and roundtables focused on exploring commonalities and differences of exchanged ecofeminist practices and worldviews from across north-south, rural-urban, white-indigenous divides. The outcomes from these conversations where used to outline how the guiding principles of ecofeminisms provide an alternative roadmap to the growth paradigm of extractivist late-stage capitalism.
